Some things just need to be seen in color.
Bardot.
So many times hotter than Angelina Jolie. Our movie stars now are boring.
I like this article in the Times about Where the Wild Things Are. Two things are bugging me about the reaction to this movie. 1) The people who say “it might not be for kids!” as if just because a movie HAS A KID IN IT it has to automatically only be for kids. And I know it is based on a children’s book but that book came out in the Sixties so maybe this movie is also for people who GREW UP READING THE BOOK. 2) “It’s too scary” for kids. You know, nothing BAD or CREEPY happens in this movie. Kids play video games where they shoot other people in the face. And, have you met any kids? Kids are MEAN. Kids get picked on and have FEELINGS and they actually understand a lot. This movie is EMOTIONAL not SCARY and I think people confuse the two in America where every single thing is spelled out for us. This movie isn’t spelling out how every second will go, you might have to think about it. You might cry. You might feel sad. But it’s not SCARY. Even if it was? You know, sometimes LIFE is scary. Maybe that is not a horrible lesson to learn.
It still sort of thrills me that Charles Thompson is my Twitter friend. We are also Facebook friends now. I wonder if he will hook me up with some Pixies tickets.
I have had this in my head for three days. Ever since I bought this on Saturday.
